Sometimes you just feel like splurging on underwear — even when you’re unemployed.
Police in Hyogo Prefecture arrested a man in Kobe’s Suma Ward. He allegedly ordered 110,000 JPY worth of women’s underwear from an online retailer and never paid for it.
According to the Hyogo Prefectural Police Department, the 46-year-old unemployed suspect used a fake name and phone number to place the order on September 7 of last year. He ordered 18 articles of women’s underwear, including bras and panties, worth a total of 114,000 JPY (about $1,031 USD). He had the items delivered to an acquaintance’s home. He was supposed to pay for them by bank transfer after receiving them, but he never did.
Police learned about the incident after the online retailer reported it.
Officers arrested the suspect on August 30 on suspicion of theft. He’s admitted to the allegations. He reportedly told police, “There’s no doubt that I didn’t pay. I bought the women’s underwear in order to wear.”
No word yet on whether the suspect was satisfied with his “purchase.”
