Zachery Logsdon was a stay-at-home burnout living with his mother. He often bummed cash off her to support his daily drug habit. Eventually, his mother grew tired of his behavior and decided to cut him off, hoping he’d finally get a job and stop being such a bum.
Zachery had a much better idea. The stoner texted his mother “911,” claiming his drug dealer had kidnapped him and would kill him unless she delivered $200 to a specific location to cover his drug debt. Worried for her son’s safety, his mother contacted the authorities. They told her to agree to meet at the location and drop off the “ransom” in exchange for her son.
Police arrived at the location and found Zachery waiting outside for his mom to show up with the cash. When officers confronted him about the ransom text he’d sent, he fled the scene. Police eventually caught up with him and arrested him for filing a “false report.”
