Human Catapult, UK

Human Catapult, UK

Some rides are just bad ideas. The Human Catapult at Middlemoor Water Park in the UK is one of them. For £40, riders climb into a medieval-style catapult and get flung through the air at 60mph before landing in a net 75 feet away.

The ride has caused several injuries and accidents since it opened. In 2002, a 19-year-old Oxford student missed the landing net and died.

Amora, London

Amora, London

Museums are usually about education, but Amora is nothing like the ones you visited in school. Known as the “Academy of Sex,” it functioned much like an erotica museum.

Most of the exhibits were interactive — hands-on, in every sense. Visitors could learn about sex, talk to a sex therapist, and even try a spank-o-meter. Interactive sculptures helped you find erogenous zones, and you could improve your kissing technique or learn erotic games. Amora ran for more than a year starting in 2007, located in Piccadilly Circus, London. Sadly, it’s no longer open.
