A 45-year-old Connecticut State Police officer, Aaron Huntsman, has been busted for stealing money and jewelry from a deceased motorist at an accident scene. A Larimer County judge charged the former officer with third-degree larceny and tampering with evidence after he took a plea deal.
Huntsman was arrested back in 2012. The arrest came after the department launched an internal investigation into missing jewelry and money taken from the body of John Scalesse, who had been killed in a fatal motorcycle accident.
Authorities released a statement explaining what happened. Huntsman, a trooper based out of Bridgeport, was one of the first responders on the scene of the horrific accident. Deputies believe he pretended to help the dying man, but was actually robbing him of $3,700 in cash and jewelry, which he then hid in his police cruiser. Luckily, his dash camera was on and captured the entire event.
